Glossy photo paper is special because it contains a high gloss coat which gives it the look and feel of a traditional photo. They typically dry very fast which generally leaves allowing you to enjoy your photos as soon as they print. They also are water resistant. This is a huge advantage to using glossy photo paper since there is no need to worry about ink smearing if you were to get a little water on the photo. Glossy photo paper is my absolute favorite type of photo paper to use.

When buying glossy photo paper, as with any finish of photo paper, you want to be sure you are selecting the correct size of photo paper for your printer and your needs. Some photo printers can only handle certain sizes so please check with your printer before spending any money on glossy photo paper. With that said, you will want to compare the different sizes of glossy photo paper to see which you like best. There are many brands of glossy photo paper out there so I am sure that you will find a brand and size that will suit your needs. For some pictures you might want a smaller size and for others you may want a larger size. It all depends on your own taste and what your printer can do. You can't go wrong with any size glossy photo paper. Just choose what you like the best.
 
Glossy photo paper will work best for printing photos that will not be handled much-for example; framed photos, scrapbook photos, photo album photos- as glossy photo paper will attract finger prints.
